Magical Magalluf

Magalluf has a legendary status with the young people of the UK.  It is one of the most popular destinations for young holiday makers looking for sun, sea, sand and eh … San Miguel?  Well come on isn’t that the recipe of a magical holiday for most people under 30 – and quite a few of those over 30s too? It’s also a great place to bag a last minute cheap holiday too!

If you don’t know Magalluf is a major resort on the paradise island of Majorca, a Spanish island located in the warm Mediterranean Sea of southern Europe.  Its location means that Magalluf has on average more than 300 days of sunshine a year and temperatures in July and August hit 30 -35°C!  That makes the summers in the UK look positively artic.

Magalluf attracts over a million visitors a year drawn by: the incredible weather; the legendary night life – many of the clubs stay open as long as you can stay awake – and of course the incredible beaches with their white sands and crystal clear water.

Magalluf is perhaps most famous for its drinking culture, but please be sensible.  Here are a few tips to make sure your Magaluf holiday is magic and not tragic.

  1.  The locals often say only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun, unfortunately this is often true.  The mid-day sun in the height of summer can be extremely dangerous especially if you’ve been drinking all night long.  Do yourself a favour and step inside for lunch between the hours of 12:00 and 14:00.  Make sure you put on plenty of sunscreen, tans can look healthy, but red peeling alien skin will ruin your holiday on many levels.
  2. Drink plenty of water both during the day and at night, the hot weather combined with heavy nights on the booze are likely to leave you in danger of dehydration.
  3. Believe it or not there is a whole lot more to do in Magaluf than drink.  Why not take a few days off the sauce, hire a car and explore?

There are so many things to see and do in Magaluf, you can try go-karting, underwater diving, jet skiing, windsurfing or why not visit Western Water Park?

Magaluf is certainly a place where magical holidays can happen. Wish you were here!
